Employment Position: Live in Lodge Manager and Cleaner for Edski Lodge at Mount Baw Baw Alpine Snow Resort

Edski is a ski lodge located within the Mount Baw Baw Alpine Resort, we are looking to employ / contract a live in Lodge Manager and Cleaner for the 2021 winter / snow season. This live in role can be filled by an individual or by a couple.
This position has two parts for that person or couple to fill, that of the Lodge Manager and that of the Cleaner as described below.
We are also advertising on behalf of John Gardiner, Tanjil, Skali and Everest Lodge for a cleaner to carry out similar cleaning work as that on offer at Edski. Note that there will be a separate agreements between the contractor (you) and the other properties for their cleaning work.

The individual or couple slected will be Edski's lodge managers in return for free board (only the lodge managers apartment - 1 double bed, 2 bedside tables with drawers, bathroom with shower and toilet. They will have their own refrigerator with a small freezer section).
The duties of Edski's lodge manager includes:

  • Updating the whiteboard listing the bookings room allocations
  • Being present during checking and checkout Sunday to Friday nights to ensure that there are no problems 5 - 6pm
  • Quickly check and clean rooms between checkout and check in - Empty bins, straighten sheets, ensure rooms have been left clean. Inform Bookings Officer if rooms have not been left clean. Guests are still asked to clean out their rooms before they leave (including vacuuming) and leave the rest of the lodge in the condition they found it, however if a room has not been left clean then a clean and vacuum of the rooms is required by the lodge managers
  • Assist and liaise between the bookings officer and the concerned party for any general problems and questions.
  • Assist with Lodge day to day general operations and report any problems to the Bookings Officer

In addition the Lodge manager will receive a complimentary gate entry and lift season pass, have access to the same free WiFi as guests (limited download per day, more download can be discussed with the Bookings Officer).

The Contractor will be Edski Lodge's Cleaner and will be paid $150 per week. The main cleaning during the week is expected to toal between 6 to 8 hours but sometimes it can be more and other times it will be less. Note that some busy weeks such as during school holidays when we are very busy we will pay $200 per week. If cleaning is not required for a week or period we will advise you. Cleaning will include:

  • Cleaning both Male and Female bathrooms (Weekly), consisting of 3 showers each and 2 toilets.
  • Cleaning of the downstairs toilet (weekly).
  • Replace toilet paper in all bathrooms, wash tea-towels and hang out in drying room.
  • Mop the Mezzanine Level if it is required.
  • Vacuum when required upstairs corridor, main living area and downstairs tv room.
  • Clean the Kitchen weekly or more frequently if it is required, specifically stove tops, empty the fat trap of the hot plate etc.
  • Washing of mattress protectors and pillow cases - changing of mattress protectors should be done once every 1 to 2 weeks and as required.
  • General clean of the rest of the lodge if required.

The Contractor will be Everest Lodge's Cleaner and will be paid $25 per hour with an estimate of 6-10 hours per week. Cleaning will include:

  • General Full Clean - twice a week (Generally Friday and Sunday) if necessary.
    • Upstairs Lounge - Vacuum Floor, Arrange Chairs.
    • Kitchen - Sweep and Mop floor. Ensure food scraps are cleaned out of cupboards. Take rubbish and recycling to depot after weekend and as required.
    • Fridges in Kitchen - Defrost as necessary, clean up spills and throw out old forgotten food.
    • Bedrooms - Vacuum Floor (under beds as well), remove any rubbish and check protective linen for wet, stains and tears.
    • Lower Hallway / Middle Level and common area - Vacuum floor.
    • Bathrooms (3 off) - Clean Showers, toilets, basins, mirrors, mop floors, empty bins and fill toilet roll holders.
    • Ski Room - Sweep dirt up and Mop floor.
    • Drying Room - Sweep dirt up and Mop floor.

The Contractor will be Tanjil Lodge's Cleaner and will be paid $25 per hour with an estimate of 6-10 hours per week. Cleaning will include:

  • General Full Clean - twice a week (Generally Friday and Sunday) if necessary.
    • Upstairs Lounge - Vacuum Floor, Arrange Chairs.
    • Kitchen - Sweep and Mop floor. Ensure food scraps are cleaned out of cupboards. Take rubbish and recycling to depot after weekend and as required.
    • Fridges in Kitchen - Defrost as necessary, clean up spills and throw out old forgotten food.
    • Bedrooms - Vacuum Floor (under beds as well), remove any rubbish and check protective linen for wet, stains and tears.
    • Lower Hallway / Middle Level and common area - Vacuum floor.
    • Bathrooms (3 off) - Clean Showers, toilets, basins, mirrors, mop floors, empty bins and fill toilet roll holders.
    • Ski Room - Sweep dirt up and Mop floor.
    • Drying Room - Sweep dirt up and Mop floor.

The Contractor will be Skali's Cleaner and will be paid $25 per hour with an estimate of 3-5 hours per week. Cleaning will include:

  • Focused quick clean - twice a week (3 hours on Monday and 1 hour on Friday)
    • Kitchen - Sweep floor. Ensure food scraps are cleaned out of cupboards. Take rubbish and recycling to depot after weekend and as required.
    • Fridges in Kitchen - Defrost as necessary, clean up spills and throw out old forgotten food.
    • Bathrooms - Clean Shower, toilets, basins, mirrors, mop floors, empty bins and fill toilet roll holders.
  • General quick clean of lounge and dining areas if needed

The Contractor will assist John Gardiners managers to carry out a quick clean and setting of bedrooms, and will be paid $25 per hour with an estimate of 6 hours per week. Cleaning will include:

  • Hours to be confirmed
    • Making beds and quick tidy up of rooms
    • Assist managers with any other tidying up required

The Contractor may also be tasked with twice daily cleaning of frequently touched surfaces in each property

  • Focused quick clean - 10 to 20 minutes
    • Disinfect door handles, bench tops, hand rails etd
    • We will discuss this more with you later on

The Contractor will assist John Gardiners managers to carry out a quick clean and setting of bedrooms, and will be paid $25 per hour with an estimate of 6 hours per week. Cleaning will include:

  • Hours to be confirmed
    • Making beds and quick tidy up of rooms
    • Assist managers with any other tidying up required

During times of low snow or when there are few guests staying in the lodge, cleaning requirements will be minimum and there for the lodge manager may be on limited hours.

Past experience has shown that with Edski's Cleaning workload and Lodge Manager commitments, there are several hours free during the day for enjoying the resort or engaging with other businesses on the mountain for extra work / cleaning


The Lodge Manager and Cleaner will be commissioned to start 19/06/2021 for spring cleaning of Edski before the school holidays and the bulk of our bookings start.

Edski will offer work over periods to be advised between the Queens Birthday in June and the end of September. This work is not guaranteed and can be cancelled at any time dependent on snow falls and guest bookings. Generally there is work from the start of July to the end of August.

Tanjil, John Gardiner and Everest Lodge's check in and check out times are during the day so cleaning duties at either accommodation provider will not conflict with Edski. If the Lodge Cleaner contracts their services to other parties then it is their responsibility that their cleaning duties at Edski are not affected.
